Why I became a trainer

After watching my good friend die from a [preventable] heart attack, over 10 years ago, it was then I knew my purpose. He was unfit, overweight and too young to die. I have since dedicated my life to fitness and health, including the equally important, mental aspects.
Making a positive difference in people’s lives, by teaching them how to help themselves, is definitely the most rewarding part, whilst also enjoying the journey with them.

What makes Mind Muscle Unity different in a saturated industry?

Mind Muscle Unity (MMU) focuses on the combination of fitness training and life coaching. A trained mindset is of paramount importance, if not more so, than the physical side. Your mind can push your body when mentally low, but your body can’t push your mind.

Born & raised in the Caribbean, now living in Australia, I’m able to adapt and enjoy connecting to a diverse range of people. I approach each client with care and understanding. There is no judgement here.

PROS & CONS of the fitness industry

The fitness industry provides a platform for professionals, like myself, to improve the lives of others. It’s a fantastic community, when similar goals are sought. However, there is a dark side, where ‘professionals’ (social media influences) prey on the vulnerable, selling them the belief that a six pack is the key to happiness. Sure, wanting to look and feel good is great but come to that decision for yourself. People’s blind desire for change, without sincere reasoning, is not sustainable. Physical activity is so much more than just weight loss & gains; it’s stress relief, improved sleep quality, mental health, community connections and overall wellbeing.

There is no short cut to achieving your health and fitness goals. Discipline and hard work, when combined with the right education and mindset, provide life long changes for the better.

Peter Etienne (Cert. 3 & 4 Fitness, Lvl 1 Kettlebell, Lvl 1 Fit Boxing, Group Fitness Instructor), is a health and fitness expert, trainer, mentor, Life Coach, speaks fluent Haitian Creole, Spanish, and English.
